The EMIY Way™ is more than just a book or seminar about boys. It is an adult-capacity-building model.
It asks: Can we teach adults how to connect with boys before we expect boys to connect with adults? The EMIY WAY method does not ask parents to become teachers, teachers to become parents, or youth practitioners to become therapists. Instead, it helps each adult understand their role in the village surrounding a boy and how those roles can work together. This process is important because research supports the value of strong relationships across family, school, and community environments. The CDC identifies positive parenting, parent engagement, social support, school connectedness, caring adults, and safe communities as protective factors for young people.

Certification Training
EMIY Way™ Certified Engagement Practitioner The two-day certification is the professional development experience for teachers, youth practitioners, mentors, program staff, coaches, school personnel, nonprofit professionals, and community leaders who want to move beyond learning the EMIY Way™ to implementing it intentionally within their work.
The certification is positioned as a deeper practice-based training, rather than simply a longer seminar. Participants flow through 15 interactive modules and while examining their own triggers, assumptions, communication patterns, expectations, biases, and responses to boys. After the 2 days process participants gain the Certified Engagement Practitioner (CEP) certification by Your Inspired Journey, the Lead Training Agent.
Seminars & Webinars
The 60-minute webinar or 90-minute seminar moves participants from awareness to application. Instead of simply listening to information, participants practice communication strategies and examine real-life situations involving boys at home, school, programs, sports, and community settings. The seminar is particularly valuable for organizations serving boys who are experiencing academic challenges, behavioral concerns, family disruption, school disengagement, social isolation, conflict with adults, or difficulty transitioning into adolescence and young adulthood.
Core learning experience includes see the boy, hear the message, change the response, build the bridge and leave with practical tools that you can use today and tomorrow!
Speaking & Panels
Dr. Heather Hetheru & Dr. Calvin are available to speak at events and panels on family restoration, working with boys, engaging fathers and mothers and grandmothers raising sons. Our EMIY Way Method is at the center of our discussions leading listeners to deeper insights for raising healthy and engaged boys across thier ecosystems; home, school, and community.
